Call to Discipleship

What is a Disciple?

Jesus said, Follow Me (Matt. 4:19; 9:9). Jesus did not mean that they should just physically follow Him on the road, as we really can’t do that now. Rather, this is a call to be set a- part, challenged, and taught so we see and adhere to the call and mission Christ gives us. The word "disciple" literally means someone who pledges to be a “learner.” Moreover, it is someone who follows another's teaching, and adheres to it. It is a commitment and a process. It involves commitment, and time to undertake the learning, and, as a Christian, a yearning to imitate Jesus!

Placing your faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone as your personal Lord and Savior is the most important decision you will ever make! If you have never invited Christ into your life, or if you would like more information on what it means to commit your life to Christ, please allow us the privilege of sharing Him with you.
  • We are to become His disciple!
  • We are to be discipled!
  • We are to disciple others so they can in turn disciple others…
What is Discipleship?

Matthew 28:16-20; Romans 12; 1 Corinthians 12

What is discipleship and what is Jesus calling us to in Matthew 28:18-20?

Being a disciple encompasses more than just asking Christ in our life and heart, and goes far beyond baptism or our church membership!

The Call to Discipleship Part 1

Christianity without discipleship is always Christianity without Christ. It remains an abstract idea, a myth which has a place for the Fatherhood of God, but omits Christ as the living Son. … There is trust in God, but no following of Christ.

The Call to Discipleship Part 2

It all comes down to a decision. Will we make our faith real and impacting, relinquishing our pride to allow us to learn and grow, and in turn teach others, or will we plant our rears in the pew, so that our only impact is our butt print in that pew!

Why we Need to be Saved

The key we need to understand is this, sin entered in the world by one man that affected all people by Adam; but the grace of God, which justified us, comes in the world by one man/God. All of humanity deserved it, Christ did not; thus, yes it is unfair- to God, but not to us!

The Gospel in a Nutshell

God does not reject us; rather, it is us who reject Him, He goes out of His way to give us the grace we do not deserve. He gives us His Way, even though we continue to fight against Him by hardening our hearts and rejecting His Truth and precepts.

What does Jesus do for Me?

We have to see the magnificent aspect of what Christ has done for us. We need to see the joy and the hope we are given. This is foundational to life and liberty.

Jesus Invites you to Discipleship!

Being a true disciple means having a willingness to trust Him completely in all aspects of life from the highest highs to the lowest lows. It means we are not only willing to trust Him to provide for our salvation, but also for the future.
